I’m Sophie Beale, a self-taught abstract painter based in King’s Cross, London. I started painting during lockdown while my café was closed and fell completely in love with it. After 13 years running WAVE, a vegan café business with two sites, I sold the business and poured that energy into the studio.
Textures are built in layers using brushes, palette knives and plastering trowels. The raised surface catches light, letting each painting change across the day.
